Overview
Eight days, one mountain, and five days to ski it. This is a straightforward ski trip from Kutaisi — a night either side to travel, and everything in between spent at Gudauri, Georgia’s main resort high on the Caucasus ridge.
You transfer up from Kutaisi to Gudauri, at around 2,200 metres, and settle in for five nights on wide, treeless slopes served by modern lifts — long open runs for strong skiers, gentle terrain for beginners, and the off-piste bowls the resort is known for. There’s no sightseeing to break it up: just the mountain, at whatever pace suits you.
Mountain weather runs the show up here, so lift openings and conditions shape each day — the vehicle and pace are yours, and the ski days flex around whatever the snow gives.
Itinerary
A transfer day up to the resort. You drive from Kutaisi up into the Greater Caucasus along the Georgian Military Highway to Gudauri, Georgia's biggest ski resort, high on the ridge at around 2,200 metres. You settle into your base for the next five nights — if you arrive with time to spare, the lower lifts are right on the doorstep for a first run.
Four full days on the mountain, to ski however you like. Gudauri is wide and open — treeless runs on a sunny, south-facing slope, modern lifts, and room for everyone from first-timers to people chasing a long, fast descent. Pick up a lift pass and rentals at the base, take a lesson if you need one, and settle into the rhythm of the week. Above the tree line the slopes spill into the wide off-piste bowls Gudauri is known for — a treat for strong skiers, though you're never pushed off the groomed runs; if you do go off-piste, take a qualified local guide and only when the snow and weather are right. There's room in the four days to rest the legs, too — a spa afternoon, some snowshoeing, or a slow lunch with the peaks in front of you.
You come down out of the mountains today, driving back along the Georgian Military Highway to Kutaisi for your final night before flying out. It's a travel day, but a scenic one, tracing the route back from the high Caucasus to the lowlands.
