Image Usage & Licensing

This page explains who holds the rights to the photographs, maps and other images published on hikasustravel.com, and how to ask for permission to use one of them. It is the page our image metadata refers to for licensing information.

Where our images come from

The images on this website come from several sources. Many are original photographs taken by Hikasus Travel. Others were supplied or licensed for use on this website by partners such as hotels and accommodation providers. A small number are published under an open licence (for example Creative Commons) and carry the author and licence credit on the page where they appear. Route maps and other illustrations were made for Hikasus Travel.

Rights and permitted use

Unless stated otherwise on the page where it appears, every image on this website is protected by copyright. The rights are held by Hikasus LTD (“Hikasus Travel”) or by the photographer, partner or licensor who supplied the image. Publication on this website does not grant anyone a licence to copy, download, reproduce, publish, distribute or otherwise use an image, in whole or in part, for any purpose. The only exceptions are images marked as available under an open licence, which may be used under the terms of that licence, and uses for which we have given written permission.

How to request permission

If you would like to use a specific image from this website, write to us at [email protected] or through our contact page and include:

  1. the address (URL) of the page where the image appears;
  2. which image you mean — a screenshot or the image file name is helpful;
  3. how and where you intend to use it.

We will confirm who holds the rights to that image and whether permission or a separate licence is available. Where an image was supplied by a partner or another rights holder, we will tell you, so that permission can be sought from them directly. Please do not use an image until you have received our written reply.

Attribution

Where permission is granted, we will tell you how the image should be credited and whether any conditions apply.
